The short version
Martellato does not collect any data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. Everything you enter — pieces, ringer charts, rehearsal plans, attendance, photos and notes — is stored only in a local database on your own device and is never transmitted anywhere. Martellato makes no network connections at all.
What Martellato stores on your device
Martellato is a director's book for a handbell or handchime choir. To do its job it keeps the following information, entered by you, in a local on-device database:
- Pieces of music you add: title, tune name, source, difficulty level, instrument set, techniques and measure counts.
- Ringer charts: which ringer is seated at which position, bell changes and borrowed bells for a piece.
- Your roster: ringer names, home positions, cover positions, and portrait photos you choose to add.
- Rehearsal plans, timed blocks, drilled-measure progress, attendance records and rehearsal notes.
- Photos you take or choose of table/bell layouts, kept only with the piece they belong to.
None of this ever leaves your device. It is not backed up to any server we operate, not shared with us, and not shared with any third party. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.
Camera
Martellato asks for camera access only when you tap "Take photo" to photograph how bells and pads are laid out on the tables for a piece, so you can set the tables up the same way again later. The photo is saved only inside the app's local database, attached to that piece. The camera is never activated without this explicit action, and the system permission prompt is shown the first time you use it.
Photo library
Martellato lets you choose an existing photo — of a table layout or for a ringer's portrait — using the system photo picker. This picker does not grant the app access to your library; it only hands over the single photo you pick. Separately, if you choose to export and save a ringer chart image through the share sheet, Martellato asks for permission to add that one image to your library.
Notifications
If you turn on rehearsal reminders in Settings, Martellato asks for notification permission at that moment and schedules local reminders (for example, the night before rehearsal, or Sunday morning) entirely on your device. These notifications are generated and delivered locally; no server is involved, and no data about you is sent anywhere to make them work.
Children's privacy
Martellato is a tool for adult choir directors and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, of any age, because it does not collect information at all.
Data sharing and sale
Martellato does not sell, rent, or share any data, because it does not collect or transmit any data in the first place.
Changes to this policy
If Martellato's data practices ever change, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
